Personal Branding Photos for a Mindset Coach in Michigan

Spiritual entrepreneurs and business owners are some of my favorite people to work with, simply because they are so fun to be around! They tend to be relaxed, confident, uplifting and inspiring. Spiritual coaches and teachers are constantly pumping up their students and helping them reach higher vibes. It only makes sense that when you are their photographer…you get a little bit up that motivational magic as well.

Cheri Sabbah is a mindset coach, master reiki teacher, AND registered nurse. Oh yeah, and she’s also a mom…I don’t know how she does it all! We had a blast shooting at my home photo studio in Ferndale, Michigan. Check out my favorite photos from the brand session below.

THE SET

It was a cold January day so we opted for a warm-in-door photoshoot, which conveniently for me, took place in my home! I set up my lights, multiple color backdrops, and some music. Cheri came equipped with a suitcase full of outfit choices and props ranging from crystals to large Tibetan singing bowls, (which I totally want to own now). I usually like to start shoots off with some candid action shots as it gives the subject a “job”. They know what they are doing with their hands, they are not thinking about how to make their face while awkwardly staring into the camera for possibly, the first time in a while. We started off Cheri’s personal brand shoot by playing with tarot cards!

Cheri had the amazing idea of laying on the ground with crystals around her head and I am proud to say that it is now her profile photo on Instagram! We then moved on to some more posed shots where she was able to connect with the camera, smile, and show off her personality.

STYLE & EDITING

For this spiritual photoshoot, I wanted to make sure there was a lot of brightness and color. Cheri felt the bright yellow backdrop especially aligned with her brand so we made sure to get a lot of shots there. I also wanted to experiment with a sense of motion in order to speak to a metaphysical exploration. In Photoshop I was able to copy and paste her pendulum a few times so that it looks as if it is swinging through space. (You can see this in the top yellow photo)

PHOTOGRAPHY GOALS

Cheri told me that she wanted to come across as welcoming and caring in her photos, but also wanted to share her no BS, funny and even sarcastic at times personality.

Cheri wanted to start posting higher-quality photos with consistency on Instagram. She posts a lot of down-to-earth content such as talking candidly to the camera but also wanted a sizeable pool of professional, on-brand photos to pull from in order to give her online presence a cohesive sense of authority.
